Pastor Bert Veras is an associate pastor looking after BCF-Area 1. His area includes Manama, Zinj and Segeya.. He has been with BCF since 1991. Simon Peter’s love to our Lord was confirmed on John 21:15-17 as he was asked by Jesus Christ three times. His confirmation reinstates him to the fold of the chosen. disciples by which he will play an important part on God’s plan. The

verses reverberate on the mind of Pastor Norberto B. Veras as he reminisced how three times he was called to tend God’s people. The call came from an elder, then from a pastor and finally the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, leading him to accept God’s call on his life to be a pastor.

It was during the heat of the first Gulf war in 1991 when Pastor Bert, coming from Saudi Arabia where he pursued his profession, transferred to Bahrain. The call to become a pastor is a struggle when registration for enrollment to the Bible school was announced at BCF in 1992. He earnestly prayed and then yielded to God’s call.

Pastor Bert studied at the International Institute of Theological Seminary in 1992 to 1993.  After a year, in 1994, he and the others in his batch transferred to the Cornerstone Seminary where he eventually graduated in 1996, earning him a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Theology. Many are called but only a handful will be chosen; out of 67 students, Pastor Bert was one of only 13 who was able to graduate and complete the course.

BCF became Pastor Bert’s safe haven ever since his first visit in 1991 to the present. He is ministering at Area 3 Bible study. At the same time, he works in shifts at the Salmaniya Hospital. He prepares for pastoral works by attending seminars, doing self-study and some researches. His immediate goal for his area of responsibility is to disciple his brethren and outreach to evangelize the lost.
