BCF is a non denominational and non sectarian body of Christian believers. We firmly believe in the full Gospel and exalt the Mighty Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

BCF Historical Background

GOD moves in mysterious and marvelous ways. He does not have physical hands to reach people, nor does He has feet to go and mouth to tell people of His free gift of salvation. He uses His own perfect plan of reaching down to lost souls.

The Bible states "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit and your fruit should remain, that whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, He may give it to you." (John 15:16 KJV)

It is for this plan that Bahrain Christian Fellowship (BCF) was born.

It was in June 1984 when one Christian engineer felt the burden and the need of holding a Bible Study group. Together with his friend and flatmate, both newly arrived from the Philippines, they prayed for this need. It was an urgent one, for in one-week's time, they both found themselves welcomed with open doors in a flat in Gudaibiya occupied by a Christian couple where they could meet freely. Moreover, the Lord blessed this burden by gathering a small group of simple but inspired Christians employed in different private and public institutions here in Bahrain, who committed to meet regularly on Thursday evening for prayer, sharing and spiritual feeding. Each one expressed the desire to grow in the knowledge and grace of Jesus Christ.

At an early stage, the group's desire and aim were geared towards spiritual growth not realizing that God has still a surpassing plan far beyond than what the newly born Fellowship has expected. Somehow, the Lord led the group step by step in the mission and task He has long prepared for them to do.

July 26, 1984 came, when Gideon International (Bahrain) President, together with another member visited this Fellowship with a purpose of distributing Bibles needed in the Bible Study. That was the beginning of a close relationship with the Gideon President who later became the pioneering leader of the group. With the desire of reaching out to lost souls, Don Whitley expressed and shared with the group his plan of holding a series of study on the Book of Revelation with an evangelistic approach. This was started on September 27, 1984 when Juffair Trinity Chapel opened its doors to the group to hold seven series.

Even before the second series of study was conducted, the Lord paved a way to visit Filipino camp which enthusiastically expressed their desire to attend the said series of study. This group of workers was the first 47 souls who publicly professed and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This was the first victory of winning souls for Christ.

Follow up sessions were held for these newly born Christians on Friday afternoons to build them up in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Members of the original BS group has now become leaders who alternatively took turns in teaching them. Later, these leaders composed the Core Group of the Fellowship.

Regular meetings were held by Core Group for planning, sharing and prayer. With new hopes and visions from the Lord, the Core Group has continuously claimed victory of winning souls for Christ. Baptismal Services were held for the new Christians during Friday afternoons at Brown and Root pool by  Rev. Anwar Khan. A total of 78 souls came to establish a personal relationship with the Lord after the seven series of study was finished. However, before the study has come to an end, the Lord has prepared another mission field at a big camp of Ballast Nedam where about 1,500 Filipinos were just waiting to be touched and reached out. On October 3, 1984 the first series was conducted on the study of the Book Of Revelation and the succeeding Tuesday evenings, 200 souls asked Jesus to come into their lives. All the while, visitations were made at different barracks on Monday evenings, evangelizing them thru the 'Romans Road' method of sharing the gospel.

Then the Bahrain Foam factory group in Sitra was added to the work.

God does not fail! Even there was a transport crisis, He provided a way to Sitra every Monday evening where 10 inspired Filipino souls who had just received Christ into their lives were waiting to be fed with the Word.

With the increasing number of camps visited, God impressed the need to pioneer a Fellowship which will meet regularly and hold worship services to cater to the spiritual needs of all. The following  years  were the Lord's affirmation of His love to His church. Those who have been with the fellowship since that blessed day of 1984 are living witness of God's unparalleled faithfulness as He unfolds His plan before His people.

God prepared and nourished His children's spirits and by His grace alone, Bahrain Fellowship have grown in His wisdom and stature, and ready to carry on His work with much boldness and commitment. Those who experienced His faithfulness and guidance could have stored enough stuff in the hears knowing that our God is a God of blessings and protection.

The Lord has prepared the fellowship in all aspects.

First, the PLACE . From the small Chapel in Gufool where the first service was held in 1985, the Lord moved

us to Holy Trinity Chapel the same year which was to be our house for the next four years. We were comfortable there and would not like to leave but God has another plan. So in 1989, we took temporary shelter firstly at Majilis, then Al Salam Auditorium, and back to Majilis. The next year, the Lord has provided us the permanent, more accessible and much bigger sanctuary, the National Evangelical Church (NEC).

Second, the LEADERSHIP. The Lord sent matured men to His people. From its inception, the Bahrain Fellowship has been exclusively run by 10 member council of elders who prayerfully and faithfully carried out the plan of God. It worked good but God showed the best way. In 1990, a change in the leadership set-up took place, the Council of Elders was to become the Congregational Committee which essentially introduced lay members governing the body. It was at this time, too, when the church decided to affixed the word Christian to its name. Hence, the Bahrain Fellowship became the BAHRAIN CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP. The following year, God's blessings were magnified once more when He paved the way for her affiliation with the NEC, not only did she gain facility use, but more so the wise counsels of the pastors who stood with us when the going get rough.

As the flock was increasing, the need for a full time Pastor was evident. A Pastoral Search Committee was created and in May 1995 the first Church Minister, Pastor Freddie Cudiamat, was called in to effectively minister and carry out the Great Commission of Jesus. Bahrain was sub-divided into zones. Elders were commissioned to become Area Pastors to look after the members in their assigned geographical areas.

Third, the WORKERS. It is not mere coincidence or through sheer luck that people call BCF a 'talent-rich church'. God has sent each of the workers for a reason or two. He gave BCF pastors, elders, preachers, teachers, musicians, drivers and workers of seasoned abilities not only to share their talents but train future workers as well. The believers in this place are mostly transients and it is God's intention that the church outlasts its members.

Trainings were made available to almost every worker to equip each for Christian service, equipped enough to help believers become quality Christians.

Fourth, the MEMBERS. The place, the leaders and hard workers are of no value should there be no members. The Spirit of God has placed that burning desire in the hearts of the believers to invite people to church services and introduce them to Christ. The Holy Spirit impressed on them the way to salvation and fulfilled life. From a 40 plus faithful members during the early years, the group has grown to more than 350 plus to date.

Fifth, SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND MATURITY THROUGH BIBLE STUDY. "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God" is one verse BCF members set in their hearts on. Aside from the regular Friday services, the Bible Study Camps now have grown to 14, held throughout the island, from the 4 camps in 1985. The Lord has been sending and training teachers who carry His Word to many homes. At present, the church has   13 accredited BS teachers aside from the area pastors.

Sixth, PROPERTY AND FINANCE. Knowing that giving is a part of worship, the Holy Spirit impressed upon the people's hearts the value of supporting His ministries. A significant number of the members practice tithing or giving back to God the tenth of their income.

Through God's provisions, BCF has been blessed to acquire properties such as six brand new 16 setter vans, Toyota Hilux Pick-up, Honda Stream Pastoral car, photocopier, 2 units of P4 Laptop computer with printer, 2 units Overhead Projectors, among others, which we use for His Glory.

The Lord has also been providing surplus funds which are being used for helping brothers and sisters in need. God is our Great Provider, we never lack all these years.

Seventh, GROUPINGS . From a mono-stratified age group in 1984, BCF has grown to a church of all ages. It has become, then, necessary to form a local organizations within the body to cater to their specific needs. We have the Children and Youth, Singles Fellowship, Homebuilders , General Services & Transport, Evangelism & Follow-up , Prayer, Music, Missions, Publication, Program, Training. On designated days, each group meets separately to conduct devotional and fellowship times, the scope and manner being appropriate to their status. Being members of one body bound by the love of Christ, these groups meet every Friday and Sunday to worship God in Spirit and in truth.

After twenty two   years, BCF still stands on the vision given by God to her pioneers: To reach down the lost souls and bring them back to God and the Fellowship in God's family.

The Church, the Bahrain Christian Fellowship, is a living witness to...................

GOD'S  UNENDING  FAITHFULNESS!
